About Blanton-Peale
The graduate institute offers academic programs under an absolute charter from the state of New York: psychoanalysis and marriage and family therapy (pending). The Psychoanalytic Training Program offers persons interested in the integration of spirituality and psychology a state-approved licensure-qualifying residency in psychoanalysis. The foundation of these programs is a belief that the psychoanalyst, mental health worker or clergy person benefits from an integration of the insights of modern psychology, psychoanalysis and the great religious traditions.
Qualified persons with graduate degrees or professionals licenses in mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, creative arts therapy, social work (LMSWs and LCSWs), psychology and psychiatry and clergy may apply to the Psychoanalytic Training Program. Those interested who have training in education, law, finance, the arts and humanities may apply to the 4-year Training Program in Psychoanalysis or take courses as a non-matriculated student before applying for the formal Psychoanalytic Training Program. While full-time involvement in the training program is the optimum learning model, a part-time program may be approved. Scholarship funds are awarded according to need and the availability of resources.
The Clergy Care and Renewal Program offers various programs to religious leaders in need, including an academic professional development program in pastoral care studies.
The Headquarters Counseling Center located at 3 West 29th Street in Manhattan, licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the community counseling centers in the greater New York area provide the general public with affordable psychotherapy. The counseling center also provides the setting for clinical training for psychoanalytic and marriage and family residents. The professional staff of the clinic represents a wide range of clinical disciplines, theoretical approaches, cultural-ethnic identities and faith traditions.
Both the Blanton-Peale Counseling Center and the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute are non-denominational and open to all qualified individuals.
